THE NEVADA
BRIEFING BOOK

A COMPREHENSIVE POLICY GUIDE

The Nevada Briefing Book is a policy research guide from the Guinn Center that provides a comprehensive summary of the research and analysis our team has conducted in the 2023-2024 legislative interim. We’re pleased to announce a revised and updated edition, which includes research and legislative updates from 2025, is now available for download.

The book contains critical data points, key findings, and actionable policy considerations and is designed to serve as a reference tool for lawmakers, agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders working to address Nevada’s challenges and opportunities.

Among the questions our research addresses:

• How have federal actions, through changes to grant structures and legislation like HR1 (One Big Beautiful Bill), raised new questions for the future of Nevada’s budget?
• How does food insecurity in Nevada drive significant health consequences and economic costs, and what policy opportunities exist to address it?
• How have greater fuel efficiency and more electric vehicles on the road impacted gas tax for road maintenance and repairs?
• What are the causes behind the rise in chronic absenteeism in K-12 schools, and what innovative strategies are school districts using to address it?

The Nevada Briefing Book is available at no cost thanks to the generosity of our donors. To keep this resource, and all our research, free for all Nevadans, please consider making a donation to the Guinn Center today.
